EBC RPX Race Brake Pads for 2023+ Toyota GR Corolla (DP82430RPX/DP82431RPX)
EBC Brakes Racing’s RP-X™ is a high-performance track pad with a friction coefficient of 0.55, providing powerful braking from cold and delivering an aggressive bite. This makes it ideal for sprint racing, hill climbs, and circuit use where immediate response is crucial. Its design ensures excellent pad life with moderate disc wear, and its stainless steel backing plates with Nucap® NRS® hook pad retention system prevent pad debonding. However, it is not R90-approved for road use in European markets.

EBC RP-X Bed-in Procedure:
While street pre-bedding isn’t legally allowed in the EU, many drivers use RP pads on public roads with minimal noise. They perform well in low-speed driving but reach full potential under race conditions. For track use, seat the pads with a single gentle lap followed by a fade-in lap.
More Info:
The RP-X™ pad builds on the success of RP-1™, but with a higher friction coefficient for more immediate braking. It is well-suited for those who prefer an aggressive response, while RP-1™ offers a more progressive feel. Both pads excel in track environments, and the choice between the two depends on your desired brake feel and driving style.
Should I Run the EBC RP1 or RPX Brake Pads?
EBC Racing offers two distinct brake pad compounds, RP-1™ and RP-X™, each designed to cater to different driving preferences and vehicle setups.
RP-1 is designed for a more progressive and smooth braking response, with a friction coefficient of 0.45 and a maximum operating temperature of 750°C. It is particularly suited for over-servoed vehicles like the VW Golf GTI, BMW M cars, and Audi RS models. The lower friction level allows for more pedal travel, which enhances control, making it ideal for non-ABS vehicles and drivers who prefer a gradual braking feel.
RP-X, on the other hand, has a higher friction coefficient of 0.55 and can handle temperatures up to 850°C, providing a stronger initial bite and more braking power with less pedal effort. It is better suited for under-servoed vehicles like the Nissan GT-R and Porsche GT models, where a more aggressive pad material helps keep pedal travel optimal. RP-X™ also works well in track setups with aftermarket master cylinders or brake bias adjusters.
Both pads offer excellent fade resistance, so the choice comes down to personal preference and vehicle setup, allowing drivers to tailor their braking experience.
