2008-2015 Evolution X

Description:
The STM AEM UEGO EvoScan Serial Logging Cable allows you to directly log your AEM UEGO to your EvoScan. These work with Evolution VIII-IX-X, but may also work with other cars, depending on the logger and if it can accept external data.

These offer professionally soldered contacts and 4 feet of blue, and 4 feet of black wire to remotely mount your cable almost anywhere under your dash for easy access while logging your AEM wideband!

The STM Logging Cable connects directly to the serial output from the AEM Digital UEGO gauge/wideband. If you have a serial port on your laptop you need nothing else. With EvoScan, just check external wideband, and go to the top dropdown tab and select AEM wideband.

Includes:
(1) 48" cable as pictured

AEM Wideband Gauge Serial Cable Installation Instructions (Evo VIII-IX-X):

  1. Connect the blue wire from the AEM WBO2 serial cable to the blue "analog" wire running from the AEM UEGO harness.
  2. Connect the black wire from the AEM WBO2 serial cable with a terminal lug to chassis ground.
  3. If you have a serial port on your laptop go ahead and attach the cable.
  4. Go to Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. Scroll down until you see the serial port listed. Right click and select advanced properties. You are going to have to set the COM port for the serial cable to COM port 3. Save and exit.
  5. Go into EvoScan and click the Wideband tab at the top and select the correct Serial/COM port it is set up on. (There are known bugs with Evoscan when a COM port higher than 3 is used).
  6. If you do not have a serial port on your computer, you will have to purchase a serial to USB converter, the Prolific brand serial to USB converter is a good choice. Install all software associated with the Serial to USB converter!
  7. Connect the serial to USB converter. DO NOT CONNECT THE SERIAL ADAPTER YET!
  8. Go to Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. Scroll down until you see the serial to USB converter listed. Right click and select advanced properties. You are going to have to set the COM port for the serial to USB converter to COM port 3. Save and exit.
  9. Go into Evoscan and click the wideband tab at the top and select the correct Serial/COM port you just set the serial to USB up on, which should be COM port 3. (There are known bugs with Evoscan when a COM port higher than 3 is used).
  10. Connect the AEM serial cable and take a log to validate every thing is working. If you have problems, there is an excellent guide here... forums.evolutionm.net

Please Note:
If you do not have a serial port on your laptop, you will need to purchase a serial to usb adapter to interface with the gauge.
These do not work with analog wideband gauges.

Incorrect Pin Soldering

First off, I'd like to mention that I didn't reach out to STM for this, so on my part the minimum star rating I'm giving is 3 stars.

So, the cable I received was not like the one pictured in the listing. Instead of a female connector, my cable had a male connector. Cool, maybe things got updated.

But, when I installed it up to my AEM X-series AFR gauge and ran EvoScan, I got a live data value of '0' on the External wideband section. So, maybe I didn't set up something correctly, or I missed an option.

Well, after choosing the correct COM Port, correct COM port setting, verifying my connections were solid on the wires, making sure drivers were functioning for my Windows laptop, trying different Serial to USB adapters, and checking EvoScan settings multiple times, it still would only show '0' as my External wideband value.

The only thing left to check was the actual Serial logging cable. Turns out, after doing some research on how communication works, the wires were technically soldered on the wrong pins. So, I re-did the soldering, put the connector housing back together, and it finally showed live data in the External wideband section in EvoScan!

On the male serial connector from the STM provided cable, I switched the communication wire from pin 4 to pin 3, and the ground wire from pin 1 to pin 5.

I hope this can be fixed for people buying this in the future. I thought I was in the wrong, but in the end it was the pin locations that were incorrect on the cable provided.

If you want to get your can tuned and you need to datalog your afr gauge, you NEED this product. There’s all these people on these forums coming up with all these different ways to wire stuff up yourself in order to datalog you afr ratios. But why go through the trouble when it’s as simple as buying this high quality and we’ll put together adapter from STM?? This adapter will make your life a million times easier.
