Why choose L19 head studs? 
L19 and 625 custom age are both brand names of ARP INC. They are not the actual name of the alloy. L19 is similar to H11 tool steel and offers the right amount of stretch and torque holding capacity. Over torqueing and torqueing to the yield with a 625 custom age bolt can cause undue stress on the engine block castings and can cause warping or cracking. Always torque to the recommended specifications never more.

L19 is a premium steel that is processed to deliver superior strength and fatigue properties. L19 is a very high strength material compared to 8740 and ARP2000 and is capable of delivering a clamp load at 260,000 psi. It is primarily used in short track and drag racing applications where inertia loads exceed the clamping capability of ARP2000.

Important Handling Instructions:
Wear Gloves! L19 is highly sensitive to moisture and chemical corrosion. When you open the package for installation, ensure the bolts are kept completely clean, free of condensation, and lightly lubricated with ARP Ultra-Torque assembly lubricant right up until they are torqued down inside the block.
