Forge Motorsport developed a performance intercooler, FMINT34, for the Toyota GR Corolla in collaboration with their USA branch. The design focuses on maximizing the available space of the OEM intercooler, aiming to reduce inlet air temperatures without negatively impacting boost pressure or engine cooling. Using advanced scanning software and flow dynamics simulations, the development team 3D printed prototypes and tested several types of cores to fine-tune performance.

The intercooler was installed using custom-designed spacers, avoiding any permanent vehicle modifications. The team tested three types of cores: bar-and-plate, and two tube-and-fin variations, each with different fin pitches and configurations. The goal was to balance pressure drop, which allows for better cooling but should not overwork the turbo. Dyno testing on a modified GR Yaris with these cores showed significant improvements in both horsepower and torque, with reduced inlet air temperatures compared to the stock intercooler.

The final core design, which featured increased inlet and outlet sizes, delivered the best results during testing, achieving a peak of 307.3 BHP and 296.4 lbs/ft of torque. The kit includes all necessary hardware and hoses, offers over 42% more surface area and 100% greater internal volume than the OEM intercooler, and is designed for easy installation with no cutting required.
