EBC Yellowstuff is a high-friction pad suitable for fast street cars, providing reliable brake power even from cold. While it's suitable for shorter duration track, trackday use, or drifting, it takes longer to bed in compared to other options like Bluestuff or the new RP1 and RPX ranges. If track driving is your main purpose, consider these alternatives or allocate extra time for bedding in on your M2, M3, or M4.

Available Pads: Part Number:

More Info:
EBC yellows are ECE Brake safety tested which means they must work perfectly from cold at least as good or better than stock pads.

When Yellowstuff see some heat (which is not tested for in the ECE R 90 brake safety regulations) they really show their pedigree. On Japanese cars built with lower friction FF-rated pads these deliver a full grade higher stopping and on German cars built with GG these are about the only aftermarket pads that will match or beat the pretty good German OE spec pads and that takes some doing.

High-efficiency performance pad for high friction and improved stopping power.

Not only a high friction pad but very resistant to heat and lots of heavy braking means that Yellowstuff has been used with great success in fast street cars and Police vehicle brakes alike.

EBC Yellowstuff was upgraded during 2021 to remove copper from the mix to comply with environmental legislations and as the new mix lasts longer it is not now being suggested as a track material due to the longer bedding in process required. On the street, bedding happens naturally in the first 100-200 miles of urban use but for those drivers wishing to arrive at the track with new pads and enjoy their day, our current suggestion is to use the Bluestuff formulation for track day driving both front and rear.

Because of its huge heat range, the applications where EBC Yellowstuff will deliver benefits range from fastest street use on higher horsepower cars on most street-based cars and even as a brake upgrade on Trucks and SUV. Yellowstuff is especially appreciated on Trucks for towing and heavy loads and where wheel and tire oversize upgrades have been fitted. In trackday/drift/hillclimb races where earlier Yellow blends were suggested, although track capable, is no longer recommended for track use on most cars due to its long bed-in process. Bluestuff is now our recommended entry-level race pad for all vehicles, which as a track hybrid is still great on the street and even better on track. But if you are to use Yellowstuff on the track, follow the below Fade procedures and remember that even beyond Bluestuff we have our new RP range and the fantastic SR series – both full race pads.

EBC Yellowstuff is an aramid fibre-based brake compound with a high brake effect from cold and is possibly one of the first-ever compounds that can be used for street and on lighter cars in track driving. These pads do require some warm-up and a longer bedding procedure (read about bedding in your brakes here) but get even stronger under the heat of hard driving. These are not low dust pads, if your desire is for a low dust premium street use pad, you should consider EBC Redstuff. Please note however Redstuff is not for the track.

When considering full-race use on lighter cars, Yellowstuff has been a strong favorite. It is also the choice of 90% of the Mazda MX5 Miata competitors in the UK race series, used in drifting and on kit cars

EBC Yellowstuff pads are also used on the UK Silverstone Race Track Drivers experience cars because of their high performance and longevity. Yellowstuff also claimed a win in the Targa rally and for two years running in the Brazil Mitsubishi off Road Team Desert Challenge.

EBC Yellowstuff Bed-in Procedure:

  • Fast Street use Pre Bed Fade 1 – drive 50 to 100 miles on Public road/highway normal driving to allow the pads to mate up to the disc and establish full contact followed by 8 stops from 80 mph to 30 mph at 300-yard intervals and then coasting allowing the brakes to cool.

Yellowstuff, although track-capable, is no longer recommended for track use on most cars due to its long bed in the process. BlueStuff is now our recommended entry-level race pad for all vehicles, which as a track hybrid is still great on the street and even better on track. But if you are to use Yellowstuff on the track, follow the below Fade procedures;

  • FADE 2 – After the basic street pre-bed above is performed on the road or at the track if installed there …..Perform 10 medium pressure snubs at the track from 80-20mph leaving 300 meters between each snub (approx 0.4g decel) Allow pads to cool for 15 minutes minimum after coasting to the pits allowing brakes to cool a little.
  • FADE 3 – Perform 6 high-pressure snubs from 90-20mph with a maximum acceleration between consecutive snubs. (approx 0.8g decel, or 80% of an emergency stop)
    Allow the brakes to fully cool for a minimum of 1 hour before the race session.
    We advise using disc heat paint to ensure green fade is avoided, continue reading below for more details
