Redstuff ceramic brake pads have always been known for its low dust ability but the latest blend has greatly reduced the phenomenon of pad "Pick up" or disc scoring and reduced dust even further. Tested at the UK Motor Industries Research Association (MIRA) in witnessed tests early Redstuff reduced car stopping distance in tests by almost 50 feet from 100 MPH offering a staggering 30% brake improvement.
Redstuff is the EBC premium low dust pad for fast street driving on all types of cars. Redstuff is an Aramid fiber Ceramic particle enhanced premium brake material. We do NOT use Ceramic fibers in any of our pads. Red is copper-free for environmental legislation, also free of sulphides or lead and a low dust material, and fully ECE R 90 brake safety tested and approved.
There is always *some* dust from brakes as they wear but the major advantage of the EBC range is that we use zero steel fiber in our pads and instead use less aggressive aramid fibers such as Twaron and Kevlar which are easy to wash off wheels and do not etch into wheel lacquers or alloy.
EBC Redstuff is also a long-wearing pad and as such takes approx 500kms to fully bed down and show its full performance. To assist the bed-in, however, all EBC pads are surface coated with our Brake-in pad brake in accelerator compound.
Bed-In Procedure:
EBC Redstuff is NOT recommended for track use and self seats during the first 100-150 miles of street driving. With new pads and especially when fitted with new rotors however drive cautiously for the first 300-400 miles during which time dust will reduce and the pads will feel better and better but if you are a driver who works the brakes hard, read on:
If you drive aggressively or in a "Spirited" fashion on roads where it is safe to do so, after seating the pads to your rotors and certainly not before 300 miles of use , you should be prepared for the pad to emit an odor or even exhibit some smoke as the pads burn off what we call "surface volatiles". Many faster drivers experience this in harder braking and criticize the pad whereas in fact, this is only part of the final high-end bedding in process as the pads see rotors temps of 400-500C for the first time (not normal in everyday driving).
Once seated any brake pad made by EBC or anyone else, performs better once the pad goes through heat curing or what we call "Green Fade" which happens during its first severe use.
