COBB Universal LF BPV By-Pass Valve (715665)
This "Universal" by-pass valve is the COBB LF BPV, a compact and lightweight solution designed to hold high boost pressure without leakage. The updated design reduces control volume by 30%, enabling rapid venting of boost upon actuation. With innovative engineering and precise manufacturing, it fits easily into tight engine bays. The lightweight components reduce inertia, allowing faster response times compared to heavier alternatives. The new Banjo-fitting vacuum port offers 360-degree hose routing flexibility, simplifying installation and reducing potential leak points. Additionally, the upgraded piston o-ring seal is twice the diameter of the previous design, providing better seal compression and less wear. The improved spring and seal design boosts clamping force by 60% at peak boost, while maintaining smooth operation at idle and during transient loads, eliminating the need for spring seat adjustment.

BPV vs BOV- Which Do I Need?
A bypass valve differs from a blow-off valve in that it does not release air to the atmosphere; instead, it recirculates the air back into the intake before reaching the turbo or supercharger inlet, but after the airflow sensor. This design helps maintain more consistent pressure and avoids tuning issues, as the air is reintroduced after it has been metered.
Typically, a bypass valve acts as a recirculation valve, redirecting the vented boost pressure back into the airbox or another part of the intake system. An aftermarket bypass valve is generally more effective than the factory plastic version, as it allows for more consistent airflow. Unless you upgrade your factory turbocharger and exceed the bypass valve's capabilities, there’s no need to switch to a 100% vent-to-atmosphere blow-off valve.
