STM is Hiring!

Who wants to work at STM?

We are looking to add some new faces and new skills to the STM team. Ideally, we would like three new positions added:

• Tech/Install/Fabricator
• Customer Service Rep
• Packing and Shipping

There have been a lot of changes in the last year at STM and even though it's the "slow season," we've just been slammed with work and it's not slowing down. Not that we ever sit idle anyway, there's always something new going on here!

Tech/Install/Fabricator:

We are looking for someone who can weld and has a decent background working on cars. Someone creative who takes pride in their work and art and appreciates a clean and tidy workspace. This position would cover shop work, detailed tig welding, fabrication, cutting metal, porting, polishing, part installation, oil changes etc. If you're reading this far, you probably know what we do, but typical cars through the shop are Evo, Supra, GTR, BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, DSM, Subaru, Lexus, Honda, Acura... What's in it for you? Well, you're likely here because you love cars and have your own racecar, so access to parts at exclusive pricing and being part of a renowned and knowledgeable team do have their perks.

Customer Service Rep:

Seems easy right? Just chat with people all day. Honestly, this is probably the hardest job in the building right now. The chaos of COVID related delays, material shortages, customers who wanted their parts yesterday even though it says "built to order" on the product... It's tough and much of it can't be taught, you either have it or you don't! This position requires someone with very positive energy who loves speaking to people. Communication, a good memory, spelling, vocabulary and a decent knowledge of "how stuff works" are all key skills to have as customers will need a little help figuring out what to buy and the best parts for their build. This position will entail phone calls, emails and customer updates as well as internal updates - keeping us all on the same page with ETA's for orders, parts and materials. What's in it for you? Again, that exclusive pricing on parts is a nice incentive and if you love attention, you'll get plenty of that!

Packing and Shipping:

Another position that seems easy and laid back, but not at all. Move, move, move! We have a lot of orders going out the door and even more coming in! If parts are on the table, they need to be out the door, someone is waiting on that package to start their car. This is a job for someone who has high energy, but also demands focus, problem solving, attention to detail and a clairvoyant common sense. What does that mean? Means when you pack a box, you have to foresee the future of what the crazy driver is going to do to that box and make sure it will arrive undamaged! Sometimes there are over 100 small pieces all with different part numbers on a tiny invoice and each one needs to be checked and double checked. This position will include pulling parts for kits and simple assembly, stockroom organization, cleaning and some basic computer training with the shipping programs and an awareness of the current shipping costs vs what we are actually charging. What's in it for you? Granted, this is not a simple job, but it does not necessarily require "people" skills or really any background vehicle experience. This is a great way to get your foot in the door of a performance shop and learn!
